Prior to planting each year, enhance your soil health by mixing one inch of typha within the soil top layer (2-3 ” deep).
Protect your perennial with more than 3 inch layers of mulch in late autumn to keep your plants warm over the winter.
Cultivate Climate Change Resilience
Keep weeds at bay by first clearing the area around your seedlings before applying a 1-2 inch layer of typha mulch.
Water thoroughly after applying, typha fiber intertwine and help stay in place.
Using it as mulch during the season will reduce both compaction and erosion of the soil after heavy rainfall or foot traffic.
About Us
Grown By You
I was pleased last summer with your typha product as a mulch. I used it on a stepping stone path to prevent weeds while the pussytoes are growing to fill the gaps. I only needed a very thin layer and it did very well indeed with staying in place. It was also pleasant to walk on in bare feet. Love it!

The typha fibres work really well as mulch, the best product I have ever used in my garden. It absorbs water well, no weed seeds, easy to apply and add to. I want more!

Typha fibres nicely intertwine, forming a mulch layer that stays in place and was able to withstand harsh gusts of wind from Lake Winnipeg's shores

Typha is now part of Sage Garden Greenhouse's nursery potting mix, helping us reduce our peat consumption by 15% while also helping us keep our plants looking fresher for longer!
Innovation in the development of alternatives to horticultural peat is taking place. These changes are occurring in response to the growing awareness of the negative impact of harvesting peatlands on our climate. A brand-new product that is produced locally is very encouraging.
